At 1:05 PM EDT, we started to received a high volume of errors coming into our internal monitoring, it alerted our response team to an issue that they saw as a significant increase in activity on some backend service. This issue caused an interruption of service for approximately 25 minutes across the platform.

This appeared at first to be a Dynamic Denial of Service (DDoS) attack, after a thorough review of logs we found that one of our core internal servers had a kernel panic.

We have identified areas of optimization in our infrastructure, and are working to improve our failover to avoid issues like this in the future.
